Spicy BBQ Jackfruit Sliders Recipe

These delicious sliders hit the spot, they are saucy, crunchy, soft, fresh, satisfying and bursting with bbq flavour.

One of our family favourites.

A show stopper at any bbq, they will be devoured, give them a go, if anyone is sensitive to spicy foods, pop the chilli sauces on the side, people can add as they please.

Enjoy the plant-based love-filled goodness xx

Jack fruit

Green jackfruit is available in a can, and therefor can be kept handy in the pantry until the perfect moment arises!

2 cans of green jackfruit in brine
1/3 cup favourite bbq sauce
1 tbs coconut sugar
2 tsp paprika
2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp chilli
Salt and pepper
+ 1 tbs olive oil
+ 1/3 cup bbq sauce

Drain and wash jack fruit, break apart with fingers into smaller stringier pieces and marinate in all spices and 1/3 C bbq sauce for or at least 30 mins.

Heat olive oil in pan, add jack fruit and slowly cook for 30 mins.

Shred jackfruit a little more with two forks and 1/2 cup more of bbq sauce, continue to cook until desired consistency.

Spicy Slaw

If anyone is sensitive to spicy foods, pop the chilli sauces on the side, people can add as they please. Serving hot sauce on the side is also great for those siracha fanatics!

2 cups wombok ~ finely shredded
1/2 cup Red cabbage ~ finely shredded
1/2 cup carrot~ grated
2 spring onions finely sliced
1 tbs coriander finely sliced
1 tbs sweet chilli sauce
1 tsp sriracha sauce (if you like it hot)
8-10 small soft wholemeal buns cut in half
1/2 cup vegan mayo (can also make spicy if you like)

Massage all ingredients together and let rest for 30 mins

To make

Spread both insides of buns with mayo.

Layer buns with slaw on first and then your delicious jackfruit on top, be generous, pop on the top and serve, enjoy 🌱
